Marc Brew Company performs at =dance, Sadler’s Wells, a mixed programme of new and re-staged work from Marc Brew Company and guest artist Laura Dajao.

lm34Marc Brew Company fuses a fierce physicality of contemporary dance with tender expression to explore an emotional narrative in dance. The work, created in collaboration with disabled and non-disabled artists, draws on the unique physicality of each performer and is honest, unsentimental and recognisably human. For =dance Statement Pieces the company brings two works, Nocturne and an intimate new solo For Now I Am.

Nocturne pulls back the sheets on exhausted embraces and near misses in the night. Inspired by JM Whistler’s Nocturne, an exquisite contemporary dance quartet draws you into the unseen dreams of cities at dusk.

For Now I Am sees Brew, stripped back – for the first time since his car accident in 1997 – to create a work that engages directly with his body as it is now. Investigating and exposing his changed form.

Guest artist Laura Dajao joins the bill with her new solo Missing; a piece about the emotional journey of traumatic or difficult times in one’s life. Based on a recent true life event, she explores movement through sign language, contemporary and hip hop vocabulary.
