Training: BA Hons in Fine Art, Sculpture, Cheltenham College and The École des Beaux-Arts, Lyon.
MA Scenography, Central St Martins and at the avant-garde Czech Theatre & Opera Design School, Prague
Hamer has established a distinctive style of working mostly within the genres of contemporary dance and site specific performance, creating architectural forms in space using light and projection.
Hamer’s practice stretches across a range of formats, and supports projects in the role of Scenographer, lighting designer and production management. Past work has included working with classical music, ballet, contemporary dance, theatre, contemporary circus theatre, inclusive dance companies, disabled dance companies, site specific and intergenerational work as well as youth theatre, children’s theatre and intergenerational work.
Some of these companies and choreographers have included: Louise Kateraga’s – Foot in Hand, (Place Prize semi finalist) commissions for The Royal Ballet; The BBC Elstree Concert Band; Adesola Akinleye, Hiromi Ishikawa; Chisato Minamimura; Daniel Vice; Sherman Cymru; National Theatre Wales; Citrus Arts; Sound Affairs, Oily Cart; Theatre Ffynnon; Bombastic; Sean Tuan John and an ongoing working practice with Sweetshop Revolution.
Hamer has previously worked with Marc Brew on a number of projects including the well reviewed work Fusional Fragments with Dame Evlyn Glenie
