Marc trained as a professional dancer at the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School and The Australian Ballet School.
When Marc was 20 he was paralysed from the waist down after a car accident that, he assumed, would put an end to his promising dance career. But since then he has become an acclaimed director, choreographer, dancer, teacher and speaker, working in the UK and internationally.
This has included work with the Australian Ballet Company, State Theatre Ballet Company of South Africa, Infinity Dance Theatre, CandoCo Dance Company and AXIS Dance Company. He was also a guest performer for the London Hand Over Ceremony for the Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Games Closing Ceremony.
Marc is currently Associate Artist at Ballet Cymru. He was Artistic Director of AXIS Dance Company 2017-2021, Associate Director with Scottish Dance Theatre and Associate Artist at Tramway in Glasgow.
An acclaimed disabled choreographer, Artistic Director and dancer, Marc was presented with a Centenary Medal of Australia for outstanding service as a dancer and choreographer.
He was featured by Time Out Magazine as the best of the new breed of London’s Rising Dance Talent.
His work Remember When was nominated for an Isadora Duncan Dance Award for Best Performance (individual) and For Now, I am… was listed in the Guardian’s Top 10 Dance Shows 2016.
Settling in Scotland, Marc has established himself as a leader in Scotland’s pioneering disabled performing arts community. He regularly mentors younger artists for companies such as National Theatre of Scotland (NTS), Imaginate and The Work Room.
Since 2008, as Artistic Director of Marc Brew Company, he has dedicated time to his own choreography and collaborations [hyperlink to our work].
Marc Brew Company fuses fierce physicality with tender expression to explore an emotional narrative in dance. Marc’s choreography draws out the unexpected physicality of each performer he works with. He helps them to find new ways to work with their bodies, through an approach which challenges and inspires both performers and audiences.
